Description of this Extravagant Biome
Ahhhhh... the deciduous forest... A calm and relaxing place where you can witness varieties of plants, animals, different climates, and etc... Deciduous forests can be found all around the world.The dark green shaded areas are where all the deciduous forests can be found. As you can see, a majority is found in Asia, Europe, or North America. Deciduous forests have four seasons, spring, summer, fall, and winter. Did you know that there are also zones in the deciduous forests? Yes, there are five zones.
The first zone, the Tree Stratum zone. This includes many trees such as hickory, elm, basswood, sweet gum trees, and many more. The height ranges from about 60-100 ft.!
Next, the second zone, the Sapling zone. This zone has many young saplings and short trees.
After that, is the third zone, the Shrub zone. There are many shrubs in that zone as you can tell. They can vary form rhododendrons to huckleberries and many more as well!
Following that is the fourth zone, the Herb zone. The Herb zone contains many varieties of herbal plants.
The last and fifth zone is the Ground zone. The ground zone contains types of moss and others. But that's just some of the AMAZING things you can see in the vast deciduous forests all around the world!

The duckbill platypus is only found in the Australian deciduous forests and is a semi-aquatic mammal. Did you know that platypuses are carnivores and they eat a specific type of worm called an annelid worm? Also, they feed on larvae and shrimp too. They are also POISINOUS and are the only mammals to lay eggs.

The tawny owl can be found in deciduous or mixed forests in Eurasia. Being nocturnal, they hunt in the dark. Did you know that tawny owls are often associated with bad luck? Yes, due to their eerie cry and features of their bodies they often are considered bad luck.
*WHITE TAILED DEER
The white tailed deer are a species of deer and are sometimes known as whitetail or Virginia deer. They are widely distributed east of the North American Rocky Mountains.
*DHOLE
The dhole is a highly sociable animal and mostly live in groups.
They look a little like foxes. They also closely resemble African wild dogs in their social structure. But, actually the dhole may sometimes be called the Asiatic wild dog or Indian wild dog.
